Week 02

 Your Star

This week has been most exciting. While focusing on what creates meaning for me, I’ve learned how to keep those meanings within the bounds the Lord has set. I also came to understand how important it is to know why you do what you do, and why that makes such a big difference moving forward. For one, Randy Pausch was a huge inspiration during my reading because he was able to achieve many of his childhood dreams by combining imagination, determination, optimism, and hard work. Even when he couldn’t achieve one dream, like becoming an astronaut, he found a way to get close to it by teaching others, which allowed him to experience it without becoming the real thing.

Why is it important to dream? Dreams are what allow us to explore more and give us drive in life. When we don’t dream, we never try to reach our full potential. Without dreams, we don’t move forward. They are what fuel creativity and help us grow as human beings, allowing us to build and innovate for the future. 

One of my biggest dreams was to be able to create. I’m a huge fan of building things myself and understanding how they’re made. That’s why I’ve started my journey toward becoming a mechanical engineer. I’ve always loved the idea of “new creations” and the amazing, fulfilling process of turning what seems impossible into reality. Sometimes, it’s just one small change, one that might have taken months to figure out, that finally makes everything work. That’s what drives me: the challenge, the reward, and the chance to make a difference through creation. Its the freedom to problem solve issues that are everyday things, but also allows the person to grow.

Preparing for the Big  In this short week of learning, I've enjoyed reading the experiences some incredible entrepreneurs have had throughout their lives, including the insights and tips when getting started. I found it even more interesting how our mindsets typically follow what we think we are capable of and stick with that safe zone. Week 03

While studying the life and career of Yesil, Ive learned how important it is to develop very certain skills, and not exactly in terms of being simply good at something. Rather developing skills that keeps you resistant and persistent. Of course later on that connects to the rest of our studies this week, where creating our own Code of Ethics has been a great introduction to understanding where our boundaries are in aspects within our personal life, and outside life. From a more ethical standpoint, I love how Yesil made decisions not just based on profit, but on what felt right for her and her life. She had set boundaries for herself that proved to have been very useful for her later in the end. She maintained a strong sense of integrity, refusing limiting contracts, negotiating fair terms, and ensuring she never compromised her freedom or her family’s well-being for the sake of a business deal. Week 07

 Learning and Growth.       From simply concluding another fantastic reading of the book Mastery, by George Leonard. Ive learned many principles that I could start applying to myself now. Along with allowing myself some reflection of my own times of success and how it looks very familiar to the aspects and steps he shared. Understanding what simply true mastery implies, whether in a skill, a career, or even personal growth, its a life long process that we all must endure. Even before starting this class, Ive learned in my own personal learning that I need to learn to love learning, and love even things things I normally would not enjoy. Not exactly activates, but aspects of reasonable skillsets that we must obtain. Its completely willing to change that mindset to allow us to see the positives of our progresses.
