Week 06
What really Matters
So this week was a really good insight of the real deal of starting up. Each week has offered a good perspective in what it means to be ready for the start-up and to remain on the right track. However, One thing I’ve come to realize is that when you decide to start a business, you have to be all in. It’s not just a quick project, it’s potentially a 30-year investment of your life. That thought alone gave me pause. This isn’t just a career choice; it’s a long-term commitment that will shape much of my future. It made me reflect deeply on whether this is the kind of journey I’m ready for, not just professionally, but personally. Even though I'm planning on simply becoming an Mechanical Engineer, I do hope to add something with that degree that I could consider my own.
That leads to something even more important: family. Some advice out there says it's best to delay marriage or not mix family with entrepreneurship, but one video really hit me hard. It said that at the end of the day, no one will care how successful you were, what we will be remembered is the people you changed or served along the way. That your real legacy is your family. That resonated deeply with me. As someone who believes in the gospel and the principles Christ taught, that truth stands out. Family isn't a side note in life, it’s the point.
And finally, I’ve realized how important it is to understand why I want to pursue this path in the first place. If I don’t know that, how can I set the right boundaries? This journey will take a lot from me, and I need to make sure I don’t give away the parts of me that matter most. Communication with my family has to be a top priority. If that breaks down, everything else could fall apart. So now, I’m focusing not just on what I want to build, but how I can protect what already matters most. Knowing the challenges ahead, I want to be prepared spiritually.
