Week 07
Learning and Growth.
From simply concluding another fantastic reading of the book Mastery, by George Leonard. Ive learned many principles that I could start applying to myself now. Along with allowing myself some reflection of my own times of success and how it looks very familiar to the aspects and steps he shared. Understanding what simply true mastery implies, whether in a skill, a career, or even personal growth, its a life long process that we all must endure. Even before starting this class, Ive learned in my own personal learning that I need to learn to love learning, and love even things things I normally would not enjoy. Not exactly activates, but aspects of reasonable skillsets that we must obtain. Its completely willing to change that mindset to allow us to see the positives of our progresses. One of the many key takeaways from reading his book was in fact embracing our 'plateaus' in life, and avoiding trying to escape them. Or we may find ourselves in a harmful aspect.
Another aspect that stood out was the idea of always remaining the student, and putting that ego to the side. Making sure that we remain teachable, curious, and willing to connect and collect dots throughout our life. Making sure we find that good teacher in our lives and surrendering ourselves to the process of learning will help us engage and experience new and our experiences for the benefit of me and others around me. In a way, it truly reconnects to the gospel of how the Lord wishes that we remain humble but very persistent in our hunger for truth, aka knowledge. I know personally I tend to get very excited about new projects, but if the results don’t come fast enough, I sometimes lose interest or even hope that it would improve later on. Other times, I push too hard and risk burning myself out. Recognizing these patterns gives me a chance to correct them and approach future efforts with more patience and balance, with my family, myself, friends, and other close relations.
